Wind2 to submit Section 36 application for Windburn by June 2025

The Windburn Wind Farm project team is currently finalising the Section 36 application for Windburn Wind Farm, and expects to submit this to the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit by June 2025.

The final application sets out proposals for 13 wind turbines up to 149.9m to tip height and associated infrastructure, including up to 35MW of battery storage.

A comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment has been compiled to support the application, setting out the predicted impacts of the project across a variety of receptors including ecology, landscape & visual and hydrology.

Ryan Bissoonauth, head of development at Wind2, said: “We recognise that there has been a protracted period between the public consultation and engagement events to the submission of the Section 36 application.

“The key elements of the project in terms of location, scale, nature of development and area of potential impact are consistent with the draft proposals presented during the seven public exhibitions held across June and November 2023.

“We’re very grateful to everyone who took the time to give us their feedback and join us at the exhibitions.”

Once submitted, the application documents will be available to view online on the project website and on the ECU portal. Hard copies will be placed in accessible public places, including Clackmannanshire Council headquarters in Alloa and Perth and Kinross Council’s headquarters in Perth.

A formal notice will be advertised following submission that will detail the locations of all hard copies and set out the process for making representations to the Energy Consents Unit.
